I was a bit nervous about the mix of shapes, but the two carpenter pencils give you that flat, sturdy grip that's perfect for quick sketches, while the hex ones are great for longer writing sessions. The set covers all my bases and the wood sharpens down to a nice point without breaking.

The carpenter pencils feel solid in hand and that hex shape stops them from rolling off my desk, which I didn't expect to appreciate so much. First draft finally got the looseness I wanted.
